Sad News about one of our SAVE Center Adopters:
In honor of Bryan Durman, the Lexington Police office that was killed in the line of duty last night (April 29th), the SAVE Center is giving ALL the donations we receive from our PetSmart adoption event this weekend (May 1st and 2nd) to his memorial fund. He and his wife adopted a lovely choc lab from the shelter and gave her the most wonderful home..., even made her a certified therapy dog! Please come by the PetSmart in Brannon to bring your donations. - Update- we will continue to take donations towards the memorial fund at SAVE Center Night at CiCi's on May 4th from 5-8.

Birthday Party Bounty

All too often in the news we hear stories of teens in trouble. This young man had a birthday bash and instead of presents asked for donations for the S.A.V.E. Center. The animals at the S.A.V.E. Center want to say thank you Chris!
One of our recently adopted cats, Eve - Adopted by Jessica Varney, is in the Bissell Most Valuable Pet contest. Please go out and vote for her!!!
March 2010 Information:
Even with the record snow in Kentucky and across the nation during Jan and Feb, the SAVE center was still able to get animals adopted, returned and rescued. For Jan:
Dogs Adopted = 9, Reclaimed = 15, Rescued = 10 Total = 34
For Feb
Dogs Adopted = 17,Reclaimed = 11, Rescued = 16 Total = 44
In Foster Homes = 12
These are the stats for the cats and kittens... This is for both Jan and Feb combined
Adopted = 9, Rescued = 12, TNR/Barn Home = 11, In Foster Homes = 6, Reclaimed = 2
Great numbers for cats and kittens..

Update- Thanks to all who have contributed, we have raised over $300 for Deidre's treatment and care. This sweet girl, 1-2 yrs old, was picked up today as part of a cruelty case. She needs treatment for demodex. She is in really bad shape!
Unfortunately, we do not have the funds to treat her. She is very sweet and deserves to have a second chance--actually a first chance at a real life.

Columbia Kentucky Hoarder Response:
Although the Jessamine County SAVE Center is a small and young organization, we pitched in to help with the hoarding situation in Columbia Kentucky. The weekend of the bust we went down and helped feed and care for the vast amount of dogs that was thrust upon the Green River Animal Shelter. We went back on Tuesday and picked up several dogs. We rescued Eleanor Bassador and Theodore from the animals recovered from the hoarding situation.
Eleanor Bassador is a Labrador, Basset mix. She is about 4-5 years old and is a joy to be around! Eleanor seems to be making a good recovery from her ordeal with Clean Slate.
Theodore is truly a teddybear! Theodore was at Clean Slate for almost a year. Fortunately he seems to be recovering well and is eager to find his forever family. Theodore has been through a lot and deserves to be treated like a king.
